Penn State students share a 'Taste of 1677'

Students from Penn State Abington are inviting the public to a “Taste of 1677” an interactive history exhibition about food, medicine and science from their yearlong exploration of a 17th-century recipe manuscript from 5–7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at the Penn State Center Philadelphia located at 675 Sansom St.

Penn State Center Philadelphia facilitates community health day

Through Penn State Center Philadelphia, Penn State faculty and students are working with community organizations in Philadelphia to create easier access to health screenings, low cost health care and advice on how to live a healthier lifestyle. One of the first initiatives to come to fruition was a Health Fair at the South Philadelphia Community Health and Literacy Center on April 27.

Student entrepreneurs compete for $30,000 in funding on 'The Investment'

Sherveen Karbasiafshar is a biology student at Penn State. He, along with five other undergraduates, created HemoGO — a smartphone application designed to assist people who want to check their complete blood count on the go. HemoGO is one of six Penn State student startups working with the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program to compete for a pool of $30,000 in the annual Inc.U competition show “The Investment,” airing at 8 p.m. May 24 on WPSU.
